Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team wrapped up an early pre-conference sweep of CCCBCA SoCal Pre-Season #5 Oxnard College on Saturday afternoon. The Owls broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fifth on their way to a 7-4 victory over the Condors.

Oxnard drew first blood on the day, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first, one via an Owl error. The Owls would rally with a trio of scores in the bottom of the third, all three unearned. Sophomore Rudy Casarez would open the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center field that plated sophomore Michael Carlos. Freshman Marcos Campos would score on the next at bat thanks to another fielding miscue by the Condors, and freshman Kysouke Ushimaru would score the third of the inning on a wild pitch.

After the opening pair of runs, freshman starting pitcher Roberto Baldanebro would settle in over his next five innings of work. Both of the hits he gave up in his time on the hill came in the top of the first. He gave up just three walks in his next five innings, and gave up just one more run, an unearned one, in the top of the top of the fifth that briefly tied the game up at 3-3.

Citrus would break open the game in the bottom of the fifth when sophomore Rudy Casarez III hit a single to center field that plated both Campos and Carlos. Sophomore Joshua Chua would make it 6-3 with an infield RBI single that scored freshman Cooper Hughes. Oxnard would briefly pull to within two runs with a score in the top of the seventh, but freshman Hiroshia Ishiwatari scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth to put the Owls' lead back to four.

Freshman Davis Radcliffe would take over for Baldanebro in the seventh, putting together his fourth solid relief appearance of the season. Sophomore Joseph Morreale would pick up his second save of the season, pitching the final two innings of the game. Morreale would give up just two hits, no walks, and no runs.

With the win, Citrus improved to 4-2-1 on the season. The Owls will be back home on Tuesday when they host Mt. San Jacinto College at 2:00 PM.
