Cypress, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team hit the road on Friday afternoon to take on pre-season SoCal #3 Cypress College. The Owls scored four runs early, but it was the Chargers who scored late, as Cypress prevented a Citrus upset with a 7-5 victory. 

 The Owls scored nearly right away when sophomore Rodnee Little hit a two-out solo shot to right-center field. Five pitches later, freshman Francisco Ramirez got a hold of one and sent it over the left-center field fence to put the Owls up 2-0. 

Cypress would turn around and get one run back in the bottom half of the inning, but Citrus answered in the top of the second thanks to an RBI single by sophomore Alex Labor, who made his Owl debut on Friday. Citrus plated another in the top of the third, when Ramirez scored from second thanks to an error by the Chargers. 

Citrus' lead wouldn't last for long. Cypress would come back in the bottom of the fourth, and score three runs, all unearned thanks to a two out error by the Owls. The Owls would briefly regain the lead in the top of the sixth with a two out RBI single by Labor that plated freshman Marcos Campos.

The Chargers quickly tied the game back up in the bottom of the sixth, and then took the lead in the top of bottom of the seventh. In the bottom of the eighth, the Chargers put the game away for good with a home run to left field, securing the victory.

In the loss, Labor would finish 2 for 5 with a pair of RBIs. Ramirez was 3 for 4 with two scores and an RBI. 

With the loss, Citrus drops to 4-4-1 on the year. the Owls will be back in action on Tuesday when they return home for a 2:00 PM showdown with San Bernardino Valley College.
