Walnut, CA - Four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning spelled doom for the Owls on Tuesday night when they took a break from WSC South action to take on nearby Mt. San Antonio College. Despite tallying more strikeouts then hits on the evening, the Owls were tied 5-5 when they headed to the bottom of the seventh. That's when the Mounties dropped four unanswered on the Owls in a 9-5 loss for Citrus.

Citrus jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the game when sophomore Ryan Aguilar lifted a sacrifice fly to center field that brought in sophomore Rudy Casarez III. Citrus would let Mt. SAC answer in the bottom of the first, when the Mounties scored on an unearned run.

Citrus would again briefly regain the lead in the top of the fourth, when freshman Kyosuke Ushimaru singled to center, bringing in sophomore Michael Carlos. One at bat later, sophomore Joshua Chua would get on via a Mountie error, that allowed freshmen Steven Mendoza and Ushimar to score making it 4-3.

The Mounties led off the bottom of the fourth with a walk, and then came up and hit a two run bomb that made it 3-4. The Owls would add to the lead in the top of the fifth on an RBI single to left by freshman Francisco Ramirez that drove in freshman Marcos Campos and made it 5-3.

Things started to spiral in the bottom of the fifth when Mt. SAC hit yet another two-run home run in their second at bat of an inning to make it 5-5. Shortly thereafter, the rough seventh came around with those four runs that blew open the game for the Mounties.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 10-9-1 on the year. The Owls will be back at home on Thursday when they host the Mounties for a 2:30 PM first pitch.
