Culver City, CA - After the two teams managed to score just five total runs in Tuesday afternoon's WSC South meeting, both the Citrus College and West Los Angeles offenses easily doubled that total on their own. The Owls would come out on top in Thursday's scorefest 16-11.

The Owls first three runs of the game would come in the first three innings, and all would be scored by means other than a hit. Both freshmen Marcos Campos and Jacob Gafford sored on passed balls in the first inning and sophomore Rudy Casarez III scored on a double-steal, swiping home in the top of the third.

West LA would get on the board in the bottom of the third to make it 3-1, but Citrus got RBIs from sophomore Joseph Morreale and freshman Steven Mendoza in the top of the fourth to make it 5-1.

The Wildcats would rally with a big seven run bottom of the fourth to take their first lead 8-5, but matched them with seven in the top of the fifth to go back on top thanks to RBIs from freshmen Dominic Baca and Garrett Barnes, as well as RBIs from sophomores Ryan Aguilar, Joshua Chua, and Casarez that made it 12-8.

Citrus would give up single runs in the bottom of the fifth and the sixth innings, but the Owls offense was able to put the game away for good in the top of the eighth when they rattled off four more runs. Chua and Morreale would drive in a run each, while the other two came thanks to a fielding misplay by West LA.

With the win, Citrus improves to 13-18-1 and 6-11 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back in action on Saturday when they close out the season series against the Wildcats at home at 1:00 PM.
