Bakersfield, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team dropped their series opener with Bakersfield College on Tuesday falling 5-3. The Owls committed four errors and had just three hits in the game.

Bakersfield opened up the game with a pair of scores in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Owls would answer with three runs in the top of the third, getting a pair of RBIs from freshman Jacob Gafford on a single to center field and an RBI single to right field from freshman Marcos Campos to briefly take a 3-2 lead.

The Renegades would tie the game up in the bottom of the fourth, and then take the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh when they scored twice more for their two run lead. That was more than enough for Bakersfield as the Owls had just two base runners, only one of which came via a hit, in the final six innings.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 14-19-1 overall and 7-12 in WSC South play. The Owls will host Bakersfield in the second of a three game set on Thursday at 2:30 PM.
