Bakersfield, CA – The 2016 Citrus College Baseball season came to a close on Friday afternoon in disappointing fashion when the Owls weren't able to avoid a sweep by host Bakersfield College. Citrus gave it a run, but the Renegades walked them off in a 4-3 victory.

Bakersfield would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Citrus quickly responded with an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Ryan Aguilar that brought in freshman Kyosuke Ushimaru. The Renegades would answer right back with a score in the bottom of the second to go back on top 2-1, where the score would stay over the next four innings.

The Owls would come back to life in the top of the seventh, when freshman Marcos Campos hit a single to right that scored sophomore Joshua Chua. One at bat later, freshman Jacob Gafford was able to bring in Aguilar via an RBI fielder's choice to make it 3-2 Owls.

The lead would last until one out in the bottom of the ninth. That's when the Renegades scored a pair to end the Owls' season on a sour note.

With the loss, Citrus closes out the year 14-21-1 overall and 7-14 in WSC South play.
