Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team rallied from a five-hit loss on Saturday afternoon with 13 hits and seven runs on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted Pre-Season SoCal #20 Oxnard College. Unfortunately, Citrus just couldn't keep the top half of the Condor lineup off the base paths, and that was what took the Owls down in a 10-7 loss.

Oxnard started in right away on Citrus, scoring two runs each in the top of the first and second innings. The runs scored in the top of the second were both unearned, but it still put Citrus in a large hole. The Owls tried to crawl out in the bottom of the third, when an RBI double to left by freshman Andre Flores brought in freshman Donovyn Curiel. Sophomore Kysouke Ushimaru would follow that up with a 2-RBI single to right field and just like that, the Owls trailed by just one.

The Condors would surge back in front with two scores in the top of the fifth, and then four more in the top of the sixth to jump out to a 10-3 lead. Citrus clung in there for awhile more though and got an RBI fielder's choice from freshman Shota Usuda in the bottom of the sixth. In the bottom of the eighth, things got even more interesting when Ushimaru lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, before freshman Benjamin Aguilera got the Owls to within striking distance with a home run to left field that made it 7-10.

Oxnard would threaten once again in the top of the ninth, but freshman Peter Eitapence slammed the door shut after being brought on with no outs and a runner on. Unfortunately the same fate awaited the Owls in the bottom of the ninth as they went three-up and three-down to end the game.

In the loss, Flores finished with a  team high three hits in his five afternoon at bats. Ushimaru finished 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs, while Curiel, freshman Kristian Scott, and Aguilera all registered at least two hits. Sophomore Aaron Bernal would be saddled with the loss, going just 5 innings, surrendering eight hits, six runs (only three of which were earned), and still striking out five.

In the loss, Citrus drops to 2-5-1 overall. The Owls will be back at home on Thursday when they host visiting San Bernardino Valley College at 2:00 PM.
