Citrus Baseball hosted WSC East rival College of the Canyons yesterday, in what was a battle for the #2 spot in the feisty conference. Glendale, who still remains on top with an 11-1 record is untouchable for the time being. In the meantime, Canyons and Citrus will continue their season series tomorrow and Saturday. Ultimately, if Citrus can take down Canyons this week and take care of the 3 upcoming Barstow games, the Owls would have a crack at Glendale in what would be the final 3 games of the regular season.

Yesterday's game was an intense battle that was essentially decided in the 8th inning when Canyons tired of being down 1 run for most of the game, and went on a 2 run rally to go up 4-3. Citrus had two chances to take the lead back but would go three-up-three-down in the 8th and 9th, dropping the contest to the Cougars.

Citrus falls to 8-4 in conference play and occupies the #3 spot. The Owls take the field at Canyons tomorrow at 2:30, and then at home on Saturday at 1:00.
