Former Owl Marcos Campos Drafted By San Francisco Giants

Marcos Campos, former Fighting Owl baseball standout, has been drafted by the San Francisco Giants. After matriculating to NCAA Division I Siena College and having a banner 2018 season for the Saints, Campos was picked up in the 29th round as the overall 856th pick. 

Campos, who played for Citrus in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, was a two-time WSC All Conference Selection. The slugging shortstop was a 2nd team selection in 2016 and 1st team in 2017. 

The South Hills High School alum had this to say about being drafted: "This is a true blessing," said Campos. "To see my name get called was surreal. It was a dream come true. This would not have been possible without God, my family, friends, coaches, and especially my parents. The love and support they have given me throughout my life is a true blessing. I would also like to take the time to thank Coach Rossi and the coaching staff for giving me an opportunity to play Division I baseball, and helping me reach my dream. Campos started in all 56 of Siena's games this season, compiling a 22 game hitting streak, and ranking amongst the top players on his team in several offensive categories. 

Campos was 1 of 12 Citrus players to matriculate to 4 year colleges after the 2017 season, and is the 31st Fighting Owl to be drafted in the modern era.
