Citrus College struck first but couldn't hold on as Oxnard College grabbed a 12-7 victory Saturday afternoon.

The Owls drop to 4-5 on the year, the Condors improve to 2-6 with the win.

Conner McKinney led the Owls with a 3-for-5 showing at the plate, scoring two runs and knocking in four RBIs. Devon Diaz (2-for-5), Chad Green (2-for-4) and Diego Gonzales (2-for-4) also finished with multiple hits for Citrus.

Nicholas Santiago scored first for the Owls, tagging up at third off a Hideaki Tanaka sacrifice fly, but the Condors responded with a big first inning, plating six runs on five hits and two errors.

Citrus responded with four runs in the second to cut the score to one run. Diaz had an RBI single to start it, before Green sacrificed a fly ball to score another. McKinney capped the inning with a two-run shot, 6-5.

The Condors plated another run in the bottom half of the inning, but another two-run homer from McKinney tied the game at 7-7.

It was all Oxnard would allot Citrus, however, as the Condors scored two more in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to seal the 12-7 victory.

Citrus returns home for a contest with Barstow on Thursday at 2 p.m.
