Moreno Shines at Cypress

Citrus College couldn't hold off Cypress College, falling 14-6 on the road.

The Owls drop to 6-8 on the year, while the Chargers improve to 7-6.

Robert Moreno had a solid performance at the plate, batting 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Robert Valdivia and Devon Diaz also posted two hits in the game, while Jared Gener, Hideaki Tanaka and Josh Logan all had base hits against the Chargers.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first, Citrus responded with two runs in the top of the second to take the lead. With runners on second and third, Diaz drilled a base hit to left field, allowing both runners to come home, 2-1.

The Chargers took back their lead in the bottom half of the inning with two runs and tacked on six more in the third to put the Owls on the chase for the remainder of the game.

Citrus tried to rally and scored three runs in the seventh, but it was all the visitors were allowed as Cypress took the game 14-6.

The Owls return home to host Victor Valley on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
