Citrus College downed Antelope Valley College 4-2 Saturday afternoon to grab the series sweep.

The Owls improve to 10-10 on the year and 3-0 in Western State Conference-East action. The Marauders slip to 8-9, 0-3.

Ryan Luiz Harney made it hard for AVC to get much going, throwing nine strikeouts in five innings of action to pick up the win. Kaj James grabbed his first save of the year after taking down the final batters to keep the victory for Citrus.

After exploding for 23 runs the game before, the Owls were held to just four in the series finale.

Devon Diaz scored the first run of the game off a Conner McKinney double, putting Citrus up 1-0 after the first inning.

Santiago Castro tacked on another run in the sixth after a rogue pitch hit Nathan Rodriguez and went past the catcher to give Castro an opening to score.

The Marauders responded with a run in the seventh to pull within one, 2-1, but a big two-out triple from Castro scored two to give the Owls back some cushion.

AVC tried to rally in the ninth and scored one run, but James shut down the visitors with a strikeout and two flyouts.

The Owls remain at home to host LA Valley on Tuesday to start the three-game series. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
