Citrus College scored first but couldn't hold on for the sweep over Victor Valley College, dropping a 3-2 loss Saturday afternoon.

The Owls slip to 3-5 on the year, while the Rams grab their first win of the year at 1-6.

Jin Hattori helped the Owls strike first, lacing a two-RBI single in the top of the first to put the visitors on the board early.

Both teams were held in check for the next six innings before the Rams pulled within one with a run in the bottom of the eighth.

After keeping the Owls from adding some insurance, Victor Valley had one more chance at the plate in the bottom of the ninth and took advantage of it. The Rams scored two runs with two outs to grab the walk-off victory.

Citrus finished with 10 hits but just couldn't send the runners home. Roman Robles led the Owls with a 3-for-4 showing at the plate.

Andrew Granados threw seven solid innings for the Owls, allowing just one run and striking out nine batters.

The Owls head back out on the road for a 2 p.m. contest at Pasadena City College on Tuesday.
