Citrus College opened Western State Conference-South action Tuesday afternoon at home, dropping a 10-3 loss to LA Mission College.

The Owls slip to 4-12 on the year and open conference at 0-1, while the Eagles improve to 6-10 overall and 1-0 in WSC play.

LA Mission struck first with three runs in the top of the third, but Citrus responded with three runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning. Nicholas Santiago (1-for-3) led the frame off with a base hit down the right field line before the Owls loaded the bases with no outs. Jordan Sheridan (2-for-3) drew ball four to walk in the first run before Connor Green (1-for-4) knocked an RBI single and Sean Rooney scored the tying run.

It didn't last long, however, as LA Mission scored three more in the fourth and sixth innings to all but put the game away.

The Owls look to even the series on the Eagles' turf on Thursday for another 2 p.m. contest.
