Citrus College took a break from conference action Tuesday, battling Mt. San Antonio College in a 6-4 defeat.

The Owls slip to 8-20 with the loss, while the Mounties improve to 13-17 overall.

Devon Diaz led the Owls with a 2-for-4 showing at the plate, scoring one run and batting in two others. Chad Green, Aaron Martinez, Alex Hernandez, and Jordan Sheridan also had hits in the game for the Owls.

Citrus struck first, scoring one run in the bottom of the first off a hard RBI single back to the pitcher from Green to score Diaz. In the next inning, Diaz knocked a big, two-RBI triple to the gap in right-center to put the Owls up 3-0.

Mt. SAC responded with a run in the top of the third before shifting momentum in the visitors' favor with five runs in the fourth.

The Owls got one run back after Isaiah Pacheco tagged up at third on a sacrifice fly, but it was all the Mounties would allow as they held on for the 6-4 result.

Citrus looks to return the favor to Mt. SAC as the two teams square off Thursday night at 6 p.m. on the Mounties' turf.
