Owls Drop Close Battle to Renegades

In a close battle, Citrus College came up just short to Bakersfield College, falling 6-5 to start the Western State Conference series.

The Owls slip to 8-26 on the year and 4-12 in conference, while the Renegades improve to 14-21 and 7-9 in WSC.

Both teams finished with 13 hits on the day, with five Owls grabbing two hits in the game: Devon Diaz (2-for-3), Diego Gonzales (2-for-4), Chad Green (2-for-5), Jin Hattori (2-for-5) and Jared Gener (2-for-4). Connor Green, Jordan Sheridan, and Jason Armendariz also had hits for the Owls.

On the mound, Kyle Dixon and Joseph Jimenez combined for six strikeouts, each knocking out three batters.

Citrus heads to Bakersfield for the second game of the series on Thursday before returning home on Saturday to close out game three.
