Owls Go Long In Fifth-Straight Win

Citrus College brought the fireworks in an 11-5 victory over Barstow College Friday afternoon.

The Owls improve to 5-1 on the year with their fifth-straight win, boasting their best start to the season since 2010, while the Vikings drop to 0-6 overall.

Citrus had 12 hits in the game, including three home runs – two from Connor Green (2-for-5) and one from Mario Catalan (3-for-5). Jaden St. Cyr (1-for-4), Chase Bernal (1-for-4), Nathan Hellein (1-for-4), Jordan Quintero (2-for-2), and Michael Reyes (2-for-4) also had hits for the Owls.

Alex Gravaghan picked up the win with four strikeouts in 1.2 innings of action on the mound for the Owls, while Nathan Marquez grabbed his first save with five strikeouts in four innings of action.

Barstow struck first with three runs in the top of the first, but Citrus exploded for five runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead and never looked back.

The Owls turn right around to host Ventura College on Saturday with the first pitch set for 12 p.m.
