Citrus College evened the series with the College of the Canyons Thursday afternoon after grabbing a 10-5 victory on the road.

The Owls snap a four-game losing streak and improve to 9-8 overall, 1-1 in Western State Conference action, while the Cougars drop to 8-9 on the year and 1-1 in conference.

Seven Owls had hits in the game, with Nathan Hellein (2-for-4), Jason Armendariz (2-for-5), Jordan Quintero (2-for-4), and Sean Rooney (2-for-3) each knocking two. Jaden St. Cyr, Connor Green and Mario Catalan also had hits.

Andrew Granados picked up the win on the mound for the visitors.

Canyons struck first with two runs in the first and another in the second, but Citrus exploded for five runs in the fourth to jump out in front and never looked back. With one out and two runners on, Armendariz blasted an RBI single up the middle before back-to-back walks loaded the bases and scored one. Rooney then cleared the bases with a deep hit to right field before Canyons could get out of the inning.

The Owls tacked on three more runs in the fifth to all but seal the victory, despite the Cougars getting two runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Citrus and Canyons close out the three-game series back in Glendora on Saturday with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
