Despite almost doubling its opponents' hits (17-to-9), Citrus College couldn't close out its first Western State Conference series with a win, dropping an 8-7 loss to the College of the Canyons.
The Owls slip to 9-9 on the year and 1-2 in conference play, while the Cougars improve to 9-9 overall, 2-1 in WSC action.
Jaden St. Cyr had a stellar game, going 4-for-5 at the plate with two runs and two RBIs. Six other Owls finished with two hits: Nathan Hellein (2-for-4), Connor Green (2-for-5), Mario Catalan (2-for-5), Jason Armendariz (2-for-5), Alex Hernandez (2-for-4), and Sean Rooney (2-for-4). Jordan Sheridan also had a hit for the Owls.
The Owls head to LA Mission College on Tuesday to get another three-game WSC series underway.
