Marauders Ground Owls

Marauders Ground Owls

Citrus bats cooled off in a 6-2 loss against Antelope Valley College Friday afternoon. The Owls slip to 13-11, overall and 5-4 in Western State Conference action, while the Marauders improve to 11-11 on the year, 3-6 in conference.

As the Owls were looking to sweep the Marauders in the third game of the series both teams struggled to get on the board early. It was a scoreless game through four innings as both team's pitchers dueled and kept the opposing batters in check. On the mound for the Owls was Aiden Taylor who pitched seven innings, striking out three batters. Offensively the Owls finished with nine hits but were unable to turn them into runs.  Sean Rooney went (2-for-4, two RBIs), Mario Catalan (3-for-4), and Connor Green (2-for-4) leading the way for the Owls.

The Marauders would eventually break the tie in the top of the fifth giving them a 2-0 lead. In the seventh the Owls would respond with two runs of their own after a Sean Rooney single that scored Alex Hernandez and Michael Reyes

The game would remain tied until the Marauders took advantage of some timely hits to take a 6-2 lead in the top of the ninth. The owls would be unable to answer, but are looking forward to Tuesday's matchup against Mt. San Antonio College. First pitch is set for 2:30 PM.
