Citrus College battled Saturday afternoon as they hosted LA Valley College in their third game of the series but couldn't prevent the sweep. The Owls fall to 13-17 overall and 5-7 in conference, while the Monarchs improve to 25-6 overall and 11-1 in conference.
The Monarchs would strike first claiming a 2-0 lead after the top of the first. The Owls would answer with a run of their own in their first at bats after excellent base running by Jaden St. Cyr and a single from Mario Catalan made the game 2-1.
The Monarchs would again score in the second and add another run in the third making the game 4-1. The Owls would be unable to answer until the fifth inning. In the fifth the Owls Nathan Hellein would hit a two run home run cutting the Monarchs lead to a single run.
That would be it for the Owls as they were unable to score again. The Monarchs would add two more runs in the seventh and a run in the eighth claiming an 8-3 victory and sweeping the Owls.
Citrus will begin a new three game series with West Los Angeles College on Tuesday when they travel to Culver City for a 2:30 PM showdown with the Wildcats.
