Late Surge Not Enough for Owls

Citrus College fell to College of the Canyons 13-8 at home today in game 2 of the 3-game series. 

Citrus College goes to 8-12 overall and 3-2 in conference games on the season, while College of the Canyons improves to 6-13 overall and 2-3 in conference. 

The Owls went down 4-0 in the top of the first inning after a 30-minute lightening delay put a pause to the game. The Cougars added two runs in the top of the third inning, one run in the fourth and three runs in the sixth inning to take a 10-0 lead. 

Citrus got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning when Luke Willison crushed his fourth home run of the season, a solo home run to make the score 10-1. Jordan Quintero doubled to score Nathan Hellein as the Owls trailed 10-2 after six innings. 

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Citrus scored five runs after Luke Willison drew a bases loaded walk, Nathan Hellein hit a two RBI double, and Jordan Quintero singled in two more runs. Down 10-7 in the bottom of the eighth inning. Willison knocked in his third RBI of the game, a single to score Isaac Nava to make the score 10-8. 

Canyons scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning, and the Owls could not respond in the bottom of the ninth, with the final score being 13-8. 

Citrus was led by an impressive performance from Luke Willison who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBIs, two runs scored and one walk. Jordan Quintero continued to rake today by going 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Nathan Hellein went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. 

Citrus College will travel to College of the Canyons for the series finale, tomorrow, Friday, March 14th for a 2 p.m. game.
