Glendora, CA -- The dust has barely settled on the 2014 Citrus College Football season, and the Owls have already had two players sign early scholarship offers. Sophomore defensive lineman Willard "Trent" Williams and sophomore linebacker Dorrin Turner will be out in the Spring at Southeastern Louisiana University and Houston Baptist University respectively.

Williams was a two-time All-Southern California Football Association Central League Honorable Mention honoree, earning the honors after standout freshman and sophomore campaigns. In two seasons, Williams racked up 58 career tackles, 42 of which came during his sophomore season. He totaled 5.5 career tackles for a loss, with a break-up and a blocked kick.

"They [Southeastern Louisiana] gave me a great offer, and after talking to the coaching staff I got a good feeling from them. It felt like the right choice." Williams said. "Citrus has done a lot for me throughout this whole process. They put me out there with the different coaching staffs. I'm a way better player after these last two years at Citrus, and I am ready for the next challenge."

Turner meanwhile was a 2nd team All-Central League honoree as a freshman in 2012, sat out the 2013 season, and then returned again in 2014 without missing a beat, being named an Honorable Mention honoree. Turner accumulated 116 total tackles in two seasons, including 64 in 2014. He notched 3.5 sacks, 19 tackles for a loss, forced a pair of fumbles, has seven career break-ups, and an interception.

"They [Houston Baptist] gave me the greatest opportunity for me to be a part of a team and contribute. It felt like a family environment, and it felt like the place for me," Turner said. "Citrus has helped lay a solid foundation for me athletically and academically. The coaching staff was great and taught us a lot about accountability both on and off the field."

"Dorrin and Trent have been an important part of our program the last couple of years," Citrus College Head Football Coach Ron Ponciano said. "They have put in the work on the field and in the classroom, and put themselves in this position to get out in the Fall. We are extremely proud of them, and are looking forward to following them over their next two seasons of competition at the four-year level."
