Glendora, CA -- Citrus College sophomore defensive end/linebacker Benjamin Kane, became the third Owl to sign a scholarship offer yesterday. Kane will suit up and attend the University of Texas at San Antonio this Spring.

"UTSA has a great schedule, against some big time opponents next season. It's what every football player dreams of. The staff is experienced with a lot of NFL connections, and it's a great area to play football in," Kane said. "There's no professional team in the immediate area and they get a lot of fan support. It's going to be exciting."

Kane was a two year starter on defense for the Owls. As a freshman Kane appeared in all 11 games for Citrus, recording 31 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 3 tackles for a loss, and a fumble recovery. He followed that up in 2014 with 57 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 tackles for a loss, and a blocked kick. For his efforts, Kane was named a Southern California Football Alliance All-Central League Honorable Mention honoree.

"I came out of high school with no offers at all. Citrus has definitely helped me get to this point in my life," Kane said. "It was a huge stepping stone for me to get to the next level. I appreciate the coaching staff and everyone else in my life that has helped me out along the way."

"Ben is an outstanding student-athlete that has worked hard these last two seasons to get where he is at today," Head Citrus College Football Coach Ron Ponciano said. "We are going to miss his contributions on the field and in the locker room, and know that he will be successful as he moves on to UTSA."
