Glendora, CA -- Record breaking Citrus College sophomore quarterback Larry Cutbirth has made his decision of where he will play football upon leaving Citrus. Cutbirth has committed with NCAA DI FCS Southeastern Louisiana University, becoming the fifth Owl to commit and/or sign with a DI school so far.

"The Southern hospitality stood out to me. The city stands behind the team and is really supportive," Cutbirth said of Southeastern Louisiana. "The facilities were great, and the coaches made me feel comfortable. The visit just went really well."

Cutbirth was the Owls' starting quarterback as both a freshman and a sophomore appearing in all 21 games in that span. Cutbirth broke nearly every single passing record, and will leave as the career leader in total offense (5,328 yards), passing attempts (691), passing completions (405), yards (4,972), touchdowns (45), and efficiency rating (135.33). In addition he set single season marks in all those categories.

Citrus has allowed me to prepare for the next level," Cutbirth said. "[Offensive Coordinator] Coach [Gary] Watkins did a great job of getting me ready. When I sat in on a quarterback meeting at Southeastern Louisiana it was stuff we've been preaching and going over the last two years here at Citrus. Because of that, I feel like I'm ready to go in and compete for a job."

As a freshman, Cutbirth was a 1st team Southern California Football Association Central League selection. He was also named the Most Valuable Player in the 2013 SCFA Beach Bowl, leading the Owls to their first bowl victory in nearly two decades. As a sophomore Cutbirth earned 2nd team All-Central League honors.

"Larry leaves Citrus as one of the best quarterbacks in the program's history," Citrus College Head Football Coach Ron Ponciano said. "With his continued work on and off the field, Larry will keep that success going forward for Southeastern Louisiana."
