Glendora, CA -- Two more Citrus College Football players are set to move on from the Owls to four-year programs. Sophomore defensive back Tyler Walker has accepted a scholarship offer from NCAA DII Dixie State University, while freshman wide receiver Patrick Smith has accepted an opportunity to walk-on at NCAA DI Middle Tennessee State.

"[Dixie State Recruiting Coordinator] Coach [Will] Harris made me feel real comfortable with the campus, team, and staff," Walker said. "He made me feel like I would have a great chance to grow as both a player and a person on their campus."

As a reserve during his freshman campaign in 2012, Walker had five total tackles. As a sophomore in 2014, Walker became one of Citrus' top defenders recording 41 tackles, and recording a pair of interceptions.

"Without being at Citrus these last three years, I wouldn't be in the position I am in today," Walker said. "Coach Ponciano made me grow-up. He made me become a man."

"Tyler is a student-athlete who exemplifies what the community college system is all about. He made mistakes, learned from them, and turned into a better, football player, student, and individual in the long term," Citrus College Head Football Coach Ron Ponciano said. "We're looking forward to watch him continue to grow as he moves on to Dixie State."

With the signing of Walker and the walking-on by Smith, a total of 12 Owls have accepted opportunities to continue their playing careers from the 2014 roster.
