Glendora, CA -- After coming off their first win of the 2015 season, the Citrus College Football program felt like they may have turned a corner on a rough season to date. Unfortunately for Citrus, the Owls' offense was stymied on Saturday afternoon when they hosted Mt. San Antonio College, averaging just two yards a play and being held to 10 points in a 41-10 loss.

The Owls' frustrations started early on Saturday. After the defense went out and got a stop on the Mounties opening drive, Citrus turned the ball over on their very first play when freshman quarterback Brian Meyette was intercepted. One play later, with great field position, the Mounties were in the end zone taking the lead 7-0.

Citrus would get on the board a few possession later when a fumble forced by freshman Antonio Sparrow and recovered by freshman Ryan Rodriguez gave Citrus the ball on the Mt. SAC 21 yard line. A few plays later freshman kicker Luis Vasquez booted a 33 yarder through the uprights to make it 7-3. That's as close as the Owls would get.

Mt. SAC would go on to score the next 17 points of the game, before Citrus found the end zone when Meyette got the ball to freshman Zachery Fields for a six yard score that made it 10-24 with 8:23 left in the second.  Mt. SAC would get a 23 yard field goal just before the half, but the Owls only trailed 27-10 at the break and throughout the third quarter. The Mounties finally put the game away in the fourth with two more TD's, while holding Citrus scoreless over the final 38 minutes of game action.

Meyette would finish the day 14 of 38 for 113 yards. Fields caught three of those 14 completions for a team high 38 yards. Defensively, sophomore Adrian Barrios had a team high 10 tackles, and blocked a field goal attempt by the Mounties in the third quarter. Sparrow added eight, including a forced fumble and a pass break-up, while freshman Jared Brito had eight and a tackle for a loss.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in National Division Central League play. The Owls will hit the road this coming Saturday to take on Chaffey College at Grigsby Field in Rancho Cucamonga at 1:00 PM.
