Owls Get 12 on SCFA All-Pacific League List

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Football team had 12 players earn spots on the Southern California Football Association All-Pacific League list. That included five members on the 1st team, five members on the 2nd team, and two Honorable Mention selections.

Leading the pack was freshman running back and 1st team selection Devin Floyd (Citrus Hills HS). The 5'7 dynamo became the first 1,000 yard rusher for the Owls since the 2005 season, carried the ball 158 times on the year for 1,007 rushing. Floyd had 11 touchdowns, averaged 100.7 yards a game, and 6.4 yards per carry. Floyd was 6th in the entire State in yards per game, 13th in the entire State in yards per carry, and was 8th in the entire State in total yards.

Also earning 1st team honors was sophomore quarterback Brian Meyette (Ayala HS). Meyette passed for 2,198 yards this past year, throwing for 18 touchdowns against just five interceptions. Meyette, completed 57.2% of his pass attempts and finishes his Owl career as the program leader in attempts (702), is second in completions (391), second in yards (4,570), and fourth in touchdowns (35).

On the defensive side of the ball freshman linebacker Zach Lewallen (Glendora HS) was the lone 1st team rep for Citrus. Lewallen finished with 36 total tackles, two sacks, 5.5 tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, and a pair of pass break-ups. Rounding out the 1st team selections were sophomore offensive linemen Parker Blakeslee (Claremont HS) and Matthew Couch (Bonita HS). Blakeslee started nine out of a possible ten games for the Owls while Couch started all 10, helping to lead an offense that finished second in the Pacific League in yards per game at 396.6 yards of offense a contest.

Earning second team nods were two more offensive lineman in the form of Bryson Finley (West Covina HS) and Jose Mendoza (La Puente HS) who both started all 10 contests for the Owls. On defense, freshman defensive tackle Tyrique Faatiliga (Colony HS), freshman linebacker Ryan Cavaness (Covina HS) and sophomore defensive end Jared Brito (Northview HS) who all ended up with 2nd team honors.

Faataliga had 34 total tackles on the year with one sack, and five tackles for a loss. Cavaness had 36 tackles, 1.5 sacks, four tackles for a loss, and two pass break-ups. Brito meanwhile had a team leading 2.5 sacks, five total tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a break-up at the line.

Rounding out the Honorable Mention honors was freshman kicker Carlos Benites (Chino Hills HS) and freshman safety Henry Pigee (Temescal Canyon HS). Benites hit six field goals, including a season long of 37 and was 35 of 36 on his extra point attempts. Benites also recorded 20 punts, including eight that ended up inside the 20. Pigee led the Owls in tackles, recording 80. Pigee also had two picks, three break-ups, and a fumble recovery on the season.
