Eight Owls Set To Compete At The Next Level

Eight more Citrus College football players have committed to continue their collegiate playing careers. Tayvonne Miller is headed to Alcorn State University, Tim Williams is joining the Lumberjacks at Nothern Arizona University, Jaidyn Jones is onto Texas A&M University-Commerce, Joesph Gonzales will play for Southern University, Jacob De Lazzaro and Chievers Johnson will remain teammates at Concord University, Gabriel Tamba is set to join Warner University and Alex Payne is headed to Eastern Washington University.

Miller earned All-Conference Offensive Second-Team Honors for the 2023 season, averaging 76.7 rushing yards per game, 20.1 recieving yards per game while socring 13 total touchdowns. 

Tim Williams is onto Northern Arizona where he hopes to continue his lockdown efforts on defense. In the nine games Williams played in 2023, he averaged 3.6 tackles per game and had eight pass breakups and one interception on the season.

Jones, a sophomore offensive lineman, earned first-team offensive honors. He played in all 11 games for the Owls, helping Citrus finish the year with 370.8 total yards of offense per game. Gonzales was also a part of the Owls' dominant offensive line the last two seasons, he will continue making his presence felt at Southern University. De Lazzaro, played center for the Owls the last two seasons where he helped limit opposing teams to only 13 sacks in 2022 and 19 sacks in 2023. Johnson, who played alongside Jones, Gonzales and De Lazzaro on the offensive line the last two seasons, will be joining De Lazzaro at Concord University.

Tamba played in a total of 17 games during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. As a defensive end for the Owls he recorded four sacks, one forced fumble and 5.5 tackles for loss. 

Payne will look to build on his solid 2023 season where in 10 games he racked up 14 total tackles, two sacks and recorded 5.5 tackles for loss.
