Owls Test No.1 Ranked Mounties

No. 15 ranked Citrus College Football traveled across town this evening to take on No.1 ranked Mt.SAC in 41-20 loss for the Owls. 

The Owls found themselves down 21-0 early in the 2nd quarter until Jamahl Wilson rumbled into the endzone for his fifth touchdown of the season. The score was set up by a 67-yard pass from Tobin O'Dell to Julian Borrayo to get the Owls into scoring position. 

Philip Bangura intercepted a pass on Mt.SAC's ensuing drive which led to the Mounties intercepting a pass on the Owls' first play. On the Mounties ensuing drive Christian Sampson intercepted a pass to give the Owls a chance to score before halftime. Tobin O'Dell rushed for a 1-yard touchdown on 4th and goal to make the score 21-13 at halftime. 

A missed Mt.SAC field goal on their first drive of the 2nd half set up a 12-play, 74-yard Owls' scoring drive capped off by a Tobin O'Dell 4-yard touchdown pass to Sean Persson to make the score 21-20.  

The Mounties scored 21 unanswered points on three rushing touchdowns as the Owls were unable to find the endzone again after battling back to test Mt.SAC who remain undefeated at 4-0 on the season. 

The Owls were led by Tobin O'Dell who threw for 162 yards and one touchdown, completing 15 of his 22 passes. Jamahl Wilson rushed for 59 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries while Hakim Haliburton added 38 yards on his 11 carries. Julian Borrayo led the Owls with 67 receiving yards on one reception. Brayden Austin, and Talan O'Dell both added 25 receiving yards. 

On Defense the Owls were led by Phillip Bangura who recorded 10 tackles, one interception and one pass breakup. Hunter Corbin recorded nine tackles and a sack while Kyle Ferm, Keenan Eck, Dominic Rausch, and Thomas White all recorded one sack. 

Citrus College moves to 2-2 on the season as they prepare for No. 8 ranked Golden West who sit at 3-1 on the season after a 49-7 win tonight against ELAC. 

The Owls will be back home in Citrus Stadium next Saturday, October 5th to host Golden West at 6 p.m.
