Two and Q’ed

Two and Q’ed

Riverside, CA -- In a match-up that many would have thought would come in the second round of the Riverside Tournament just two months ago, the Wolverines of San Bernardino Valley College knocked the Citrus College Men's Basketball team out of the week long tournament on Thursday afternoon. The Owls were two and q'ed for the first time in recent memory, sent home after a 79-68 loss.

Citrus would lead early on, taking a 10-4 lead at the 15 minute mark in the first half, and keeping the Wolverines at a distance 18-15 with just over ten minutes to go. Citrus would even lead at the break 36-32, but the Owls, who were already missing a few key players due to injury, melted in the second half. Midway through the second Citrus would cling to a 49-46 advantage, before San Bernardino Valley took the reigns down the stretch. In the final nine plus minutes of the second half, the Wolverines outscored Citrus 33-19 as the Owls suffered their second straight loss for the second time this season.

In the loss, Citrus was led by sophomore Kerry Carter who had a team high 28 points. Freshman Darius Middleton added a season high 14 points. The Owls also fall back to .500 in the loss as their record moves to 5-5. Citrus will have time to heal and hopefully right the ship before they get back out on the floor in a week and a half. That's when the Owls will take State #4 and SoCal #2 Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut on Monday December 17th. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.
