Walnut, CA -- After being delayed over an hour due to administrative issues, the Citrus College Men's Basketball team finally got underway in their game at Mt. SAC on Monday evening. The Owls got off to a great start, and led at the break for the third straight game. For the third straight time though, Citrus couldn't sustain the lead as the Owls fell to the #1 team in SoCal 78-62.

The game got rolling with a 19-8 run by Citrus, as the Owls got five straight from sophomore Kerry Carter to go up 11, all the while holding the Mounties to 22% shooting from the field. The Mounties wouldn't be held down for long though as they rallied to within one at 22-23, but Carter hit back to back treys to make it 29-22 at the break.

In the second half, Mt. SAC proved why they're so highly rated. Five minutes in, the Mounties had their first lead of the night 36-34, but the Owls didn't go away quite yet as they kept it close until the final six minutes. That's when the Mounties embarked on a 13-1 run that iced the game for Mt. SAC en route to their 16 point win.

Carter would finish with a team high 24 points. Sophomore Steven Thornton added 20, 18 of which came in the second half. Sophomore Jordan Mackie, who made his debut for Citrus running the point, had a strong start handing out nine assists, and recording five steals. Sophomore Gregory Sequele rounded out the superlatives with a team high six boards and two blocks.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 5-6 on the year. The Owls will try and make their way back to .500 after Christmas taking on El Camino College in a rematch of their season opener with the Warriors on Saturday December 29th. Tip is set for 5:00 PM in the Owls' Nest.
