Glendora, CA -- Citrus College sophomore basketball players Gregory Sequele and Kerry Carter have signed scholarship offers recently in the early signing period. Carter has signed an offer from nearby Cal State Fullerton of the Big West, while Sequele has signed with DePaul University of the Big East Conference.

"The coaching staff and myself are proud of the work that Greg and Kerry have put in, in order for them to get to this point in their careers," said Citrus College Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Victor. "They will be a key cog in our success as the season goes along, and we know they will be a good representative of our program at the next level."

Carter is in the middle of his third season with the Citrus College Men's Basketball program. After grey-shirting the 2010-2011 season with the Owls, Carter suited up for his freshman campaign in 2011-2012, appearing in all 30 games, with 18 starts in helping guide Citrus to a 28-2 overall record and appearance in the CCCAA Final Four.

"They have a great business program academically, and they're a program that's on the rise. They play a similar style of basketball to what Citrus does, and Andy Newman is a big time coach," Carter said.

As a freshman Carter averaged 12.7 points and 4.6 rebounds a game for the Owls in just over 26.4 minutes a contest. Carter shot 46.9% from the field and 29.1% from three, blocked 22 shots, and led the team with 54 steals en route to All-Western State Conference South Division Honorable Mention honors. So far this year, Carter leads the Owls in scoring, averaging 21.7 points per game.

"Citrus completely developed me as a player and a leader. They've made me into someone who understands what it takes to be successful. I've become a man at Citrus,"  Carter said.

After his Citrus debut was delayed due to injury, Sequele is slowly working his way back into form for the Owls. In three games, Sequele is averaging 4.3 points and 3.3 rebounds a game.

"I developed a good relationship with their [DePaul's] head coach, and their style of play will fit my strengths on the court," Sequele said. "Citrus has given me the opportunity to expose my game to the four year coaches. They've helped me get my confidence back after I had a tough year as a freshman, and I'm grateful for that."

Sequele, Carter and the rest of the Owls will be back out on the floor after Christmas when they host El Camino College on Saturday December 29th. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM in the Owls' Nest.
