Throughout the Citrus College Men's Basketball team's journey in the 2012-2013 post-season, sophomore Kerry Carter will be blogging for the Citrus Athletics Website, giving the Owl faithful an inside look to the team. Today's installment is the first of this year's The Basketball Blog.

It's that time again! The time where every play, could mean the end of the season. As players in an established program, we live for the postseason. We all share a common goal; a State Championship. The level of competition will rise, as everyone wants to be remembered as the best team in California this season. Preparation is key!

I feel good about today's practice. Cuts were sharp, energy was present, and everyone was focused. We are all ready for the opportunity to compete on the big stage and prove that Citrus may have started the season off slow, but we're here now and we are NOT to be taken lightly.

At this point we don't yet to know our opponent [Editors Note, this was written before it was announced Citrus would travel to Cuesta College on Wednesday night.], but the way we ought to play, it doesn't matter. Wednesday it begins. The attack or be attacked mind state has already sunken in. Every game could be our last. There is no such thing as a "nice" team that wins championships. You have to be willing to take it. We got our first taste of that this season on Friday night at Canyons. We've gained momentum. If we can get mentally prepared I think we can beat anyone in the State and I'm planning on it.

Until next time,

Kerry Carter #3
