San Diego, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Basketball team closed out their opening weekend of play at the Knight's Invitational hosted by San Diego City College with a resounding victory over the tournament's host. The Owls never trailed and led by as much as 33 points in a 81-53 win over San Diego City.

Citrus opened up the game, by scoring 13 of the first 15 points of the contest. The Owls forced the Knight's into six turnovers in that opening stretch and had six different players score. Citrus' lead only dipped below double digits once in that first half when San Diego scored with 52 seconds left to make it 25-34. A triple from freshman Dominique Walker with 16 seconds left though, pushed it back to double digits and put the Owls up 37-25 at the break.

The Owls stormed out the gate in the second half, much they like they did in the first. Citrus opened it up with a 19-0 run capped off by a three point play by freshman Shaquille Barker that put the Owls up comfortably 56-27. Citrus' largest lead would come at the 4:17 mark when Walker completed his own three point play to make it 72-39.

In the win, Citrus was led by sophomore Daniel Cheek's team high 14 points. Walker added 12, as did freshman Jordan Jefferson who scored 12 off the bench. Freshman Chris Reyes rounded out the superlatives with his second double-double of the year, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Reyes and freshman John Roach were named to the All-Tournament team.

With the win, Citrus improves to 2-1 on the year. The Owls will take this week off before returning to competition over Thanksgiving weekend when they host their annual Neil Edwards Classic. Citrus will take on Orange Coast College in the weekend's opening contest, set for a 2:00 PM tip-off on Friday November 29th.
