Owls Survive Late Scare To Grab Win in OT

Ventura, CA -- After leading for the entirety of their game, the Citrus College Men's Basketball team survived a late scare on Saturday evening at Ventura College. The Owls gave up a late lead and trailed in overtime, but pulled things together down the stretch to take a 91-86 victory. 

Citrus opened up the game scoring the first six points of the contest, and led throughout the first half, going into halftime up 41-34. In the second half, Citrus led by as much five with 1:50 to go and were up two with six seconds left. The Pirates got it done late though scoring with 1.7 seconds to go, sending the contest into overtime tied at 78.

In the extra period, Ventura took their first lead of the contest 82-81 with 3:22 on the clock, but the Owls didn't panic tying the game up at 86 all with 1:34 to go and closing out the game on a 5-0 run to seal the victory. In the win Citrus was paced by freshman Chris Reyes' 27 points. Sophomore Daniel Cheek added 17. 

With the win, Citrus improves to 7-4 overall. The Owls will be back out on e court on Wednesday when they open up WSC South play in the Owls' Nest against State #16 Santa Monica College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
