No. 28-ranked Citrus College found itself trailing by 21 halfway through the first half but battled back to grab a 70-63 victory on the road at Santa Monica College Saturday afternoon.
The Owls improve to 11-5 overall and 2-0 in Western State Conference action, while the Corsairs drop to 7-9 on the year and 0-2 in conference.
Tyrel Creger led the Owls with 21 points (8-for-16), while JJ Mitchell was almost unstoppable from the floor, shooting 8-for-9 for 17 points. Brenick Soliday rounded out the trio in double digits with 10 points (4-for-6).
After finding themselves trailing by six at halftime, 45-39, the Owls came out fired up and went on a 19-2 run to shift momentum in their favor and held on for the 70-63 victory.
As a team, Citrus held Santa Monica to just 18.8 percent from beyond the arc.
The Owls return home to host the College of the Canyons on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
