No. 27-ranked Citrus College steamrolled to a 97-80 victory over Antelope Valley College Saturday afternoon to keep pace in the Western State Conference standings.
The Owls improve to 15-5 overall and 6-0 in conference, while the Marauders drop to 9-11 on the year and 3-3 in conference.
Four Owls finished with double-digit points with two grabbing double-doubles. Malik Khouzam led Citrus with 20 points (7-for-13), while JJ Mitchell followed with 19 points (8-for-13). Tyrel Creger chipped in 11 points (2-for-5) and Grant Martin added 10 points (3-for-6).
Mitchell grabbed 14 rebounds and Martin added 10 boards to help the Owls crush the glass 46-to-23.
The Marauders scored the first basket of the game, but the Owls quickly took the lead and never looked back, building as high as a 30-point lead.
Citrus looks to carry momentum into Wednesday's big matchup as the Owls take on No. 2-ranked West Los Angeles College at 5 p.m. for the top spot in the WSC standings on the line.
