Owls Stay Hot at Home

Citrus College Men's Basketball defeated Santa Monica College tonight 109-84, picking up their 17th consecutive win while scoring over the century mark for the tenth straight game.
Citrus College sits at 23-2 overall and 11-0 in conference games on the season, while Santa Monica College goes to 13-11 overall and 6-5 in conference games.
The Corsairs jumped out to an early 14-4 lead, their largest of the game, igniting the Owls defense to step up and force 18 first half turnovers. The hot shooting continued for the Owls as they buried 8-of-16 threes in the first half while shooting 55% from the field to jump out to a 68-29 lead at half.
The Corsairs battled in the second half but could not overcome the Owls' defensive pressure and offensive output. Overall Citrus went 10-of-26 from three-point range and held Santa Monica College to 0-of-5 from beyond the arc while outscoring the Corsairs in points off turnovers (38-20), second chance points (15-6) and bench scoring (44-16).
KJ Perry led the Owls in scoring with 25 points on 11-of-22 from the field while adding two assists, two rebounds and one steal. Tyler Isaak, averaging 17.8 points per game on the season, dropped 20 points with seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. JJ Mitchell led Citrus with a game-high 10 rebounds and scored nine points with four assists, one steal and one block. Amiri Meadows put forth an impressive defensive effort with a game-high six steals while scoring eight points, grabbing eight boards, and dishing out two assists. Blake Ballard was a spark off the bench with 21 points, hitting 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Ryan Raad contributed seven points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals off the bench.
Citrus College will host Bakersfield College, the two teams' second matchup of the season, this Saturday, February 15th at 3 p.m.
