No. 2 Owls Keep Streaks Alive Against Wildcats

No. 2 ranked Citrus College Men's Basketball defeated West LA College 100-92 last night, their 19th consecutive win and 12th consecutive game scoring over 100 points. 

Citrus College improves to 25-2 overall and 13-0 in conference games, while West LA College goes to 20-7 overall and 11-2 in conference games. 

The first half was a back-and-forth affair between the Owls and Wildcats, each team scoring efficiently as the Wildcats shot 71% from the field and hit 5-of-6 three-pointers while the Owls shot 48.5% from the field and hit 5-of-13 from beyond the arc. West LA held the lead for most of the first half, their largest being 10 points. The Owls were down 53-50 at halftime. 

The second half was a battle between the top two teams of the Western State Conference South. The Owls went 14-of-32 from the field and 4-of-10 from beyond the arc and outscored the Wildcats 50-39 in the second half to secure the win. Overall, Citrus outscored West LA 27-18 in points off turnovers and 27-23 in fastbreak points with the Owls largest lead being 13 in the second half. 

The Owls were led by Tyler Isaak who scored 28 points with a game-high five steals, four rebounds and three assists. Blake Ballard provided 19 points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist off the bench. KJ Perry had 10 points, three assists, two blocks and one rebound. Ryan Raad scored 10 points with two assists and two rebounds off the bench while JJ Mitchell contributed eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. 

Citrus College will host Glendale College on Sophomore Night this Friday, February 21st at 7 p.m. for their final home conference game of the season.
