Owls Down Lancers, Set to Host Chargers in Round Three

Citrus College Men's Basketball defeated Pasadena City College 80-75 tonight in round two of the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs. 

Citrus College improves their record to 27-2 overall and will host Cypress College (defeated Moorpark College tonight 81-65) next Saturday, March 8th at 7 p.m. Pasadena City College concludes their season with an 18-12 overall record. 

The playoff atmosphere was clear from the opening tip as the Owls and Lancers played a physical first half of basketball. Citrus forced 11 PCC turnovers while holding the Lancers to 42.9% from the field and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc. The Owls shot 46.7% from the field but only connected on 2-of-7 from three-point range. Tyler Isaak and KJ Perry both scored nine first half points as the Owls led 34-26 at halftime. 

Although the Lancers forced 12 Owls turnovers in the second half and outscored the Owls 49-46, Citrus was efficient on offense, shooting 12-of-21 from the field and finding their rhythm from beyond the arc, going 5-of-10. The Owls drew 18 second half fouls, going to the free throw line to hit 17-of-25 attempts. Brady Cook scored all 14 of his points in the second half and Ryan Raad was perfect from the field while drilling two much needed three-pointers to give the Owls momentum down the stretch. The Owls' bench scoring helped them secure the win tonight as they outscored the Lancers 32-10 in bench points. 

Tyler Isaak led Citrus with 21 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Brady Cook provided a much needed second half scoring effort with 14 points while adding six rebounds, and one assist in the game. KJ Perry had 13 points, three assists, one rebound and one steal. Ryan Raad scored 10 points (3-of-3 from the field) with one rebound, one steal and one assist. Amiri Meadows put forth a balanced effort with seven points, a team-high six assists, a team-high four steals and four rebounds. 

Citrus College is set to matchup with Cypress College in Round 3 of the 3C2A Men's Basketball SoCal Regionals at home next Saturday, March 8th at 7 p.m.
