Men's Basketball Sets Sights on Cypress

After defeating Pasadena City College 80-75 in last Saturday's 3C2A SoCal Regional Round 2 game, Citrus College Men's Basketball shift their focus on this Saturday's matchup with Cypress College. 

Cypress College defeated Cerro Coso 82-73 in round 1 of the 3C2A SoCal Regionals before taking down Moorpark College 81-65 in round 2. Sitting at 23-9 overall on the year, Cypress College have won eight of their last 10 games, averaging 73 points per game on the season on 43% shooting from the field and 32% from three-point range. 

Cypress College ranks 6th in the state averaging 29.4 rebounds per game and 19th in the state in forced turnovers per game at 15.8. Saturday's marks first time in over two decades that Cypress College Men's Basketball has reached the SoCal Regional Finals. The Chargers rank 5th in the state, allowing only 63.3 points per game this season. 

This will be Citrus College's 6th appearance in the 3C2A Regional Final in the last eight seasons. The Owls come into Saturday's matchup ranking 2nd in the state in field goal percentage at 49.7% and 7th in the state in 3-point field goal percentage at 36.5%. The Owls rank 12th in the state in rebounds per game at 40.5. Citrus ranks 3rd in the state in team assists per game, averaging 21.5. Citrus' defense ranks 1st in the state in forced turnovers per game at 21.8, while averaging 12.5 steals per game which is good for 2nd in the state. 

This Saturday's matchup at 7 p.m. at Citrus College will be sure to bring excitement as both teams are looking to advance to the 3C2A State Playoff bracket.
