Results

Chino Hills, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Golf team finished a somewhat disappointing 11th out of 15 teams at the Tee-Off Classic this past week. Despite finishing low, the Owls had some promising signs individually that bode well for Citrus as the season goes on.

On the first day, the Owls tackled the Los Serranos Golf Course North Course, posting a team score of 392. Freshman Ricky Hunter was the low man for the day with a two over par 74. Sophomore Daniel Olivas finished one stroke behind him with a 75, while sophomore Jacob Rodriguez was three strokes back of that with a 78.

On the second day, the Owls went up against the South Course at Los Serranos Golf Course which is a par 74 course. Rodriguez blitzed the course firing a three under par 71. Unfortunately for Citrus who was the only Owl in the 70's as Olivas was second on the day with a 80, with Hunter and sophomore Brett Smith both posting 84's.

Rodriguez would finish the two day tournament with a total score of 149. That tied him for seventh place in the tournament individually. Olivas was second for Citrus on the week with a 155, while Hunter in his first scoring tournament for Citrus with a two day combined total of 158.

Citrus begins their tough Western State Conference South slate this coming Monday when they take part in the WSC Event hosted by College of the Canyons. Tee-time is set for 10:00 AM on Monday at Valencia Country Club.
