Valencia, CA -- Anchored by sophomore Daniel Olivas' two over par 75, the Citrus College Men's Golf team was pounding on the door on Monday at the Western State Conference Event hosted by College of the Canyons. The Owls finished two strokes out of third place, and eight strokes back of second place Santa Barbara City College at Valencia Country Club.

Behind Olivas were two other standout rounds. Sophomore Brett Smith finished a stroke back at 76, while sophomore Jacob Rodriguez was one more back with a 77. Freshman Ricky Hunter shot a 83 and fellow frosh Josh Davis came into the clubhouse with a 84. As a team the Owls shot a 395, just behind Glendale's 393 and SBCC's 387.

The Owls will be back out on the course shortly when they host the University of La Verne in a non-conference match. Tee-time is set for 12:30 PM.
