Palmdale, CA -- The 2015 Citrus College Men's Golf team's season came to a close on Monday afternoon for all but one player. The Owls fell to seventh place at the 2015 Western State Conference Championships, ending Citrus' team season. Freshman Samuel Mangiaterra's 2015 campaign isn't over yet though, as he advanced to the 2015 Southern California Championships thanks to his steady play throughout the season.

The Owls opened things up on Monday with a rough first round, where they shot a combined 395. Freshman Tyler Hoefferle posted the best round by far for the Owls with a 73. Freshman Tyler Bliss came in with a 78, while sophomore Justin Hung and Mangiaterra carded an 81 and an 83 respectively. Sophomore John Gaynor posted the only other scoring round for the Owls with an 80.

Citrus cleaned things up in the second round of the day, posting a team score of 378. Mangiaterra and Bliss both had strong rounds of 74, while Hoefferle posted a 76, same as Hung. Freshman James Bragger bounced back from his morning round of 84 to post a 78 in the afternoon round of 18 to finish up the scoring totals.

Over the two combined rounds, Citrus posted a score of 773. Hoefferle was the only Owl to post a Top 20 individual finish with a two round total of 149.

Mangiaterra will be Citrus' lone representative at next week's SoCal Championships. On the season, Mangiaterra finished 13th in the individual conference standings, with an average round of 76.67. Hoefferle just missed making the cut based on his play on Monday.

The SoCal Championships are set for a 7:00 AM start on Monday May 4th at Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura.
