Glendora, CA (Men's Soccer) -- The Citrus College Men's Soccer team hosted perennial WSC favorite Santa Barbara City College on Friday afternoon in Citrus Stadium. The Vaqueros proved why they hold the status they do, by saddling the Owls in a 3-1 loss for Citrus.

Santa Barbara wasted little time in jumping all over the Owls scoring in the 2nd and 9th minutes of the contest. In the beginning it looked like it would be a long day for Citrus. The Owls responded well though, sticking with the Vaqueros, before eventually out-shooting them on the day. The problem for Citrus though would be they couldn't find the back of the net like Santa Barbara.

The Owls did break the shutout up in beginning seconds of the second half though, catching the Vaquero's off guard as freshman Urias Acosta found sophomore Diego Mercado deep. Mercado made good of the open field scoring his third goal of the season and cutting the game score to 2-1.

Citrus would try to keep applying pressure in the second half taking 11 shots to Santa Barbara's three. It wouldn't be enough though as they framed just two on goal as they struggled to find the back of the net. Santa Barbara would put the game away in the 65th minute when they scored their third goal of the game.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 2-4-2 overall and 1-3-1 in WSC play. The Owls will be back at home on Tuesday afternoon when they play host to Allan Hancock College. First touch is set for 4:00 PM.
