Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Soccer team was in seventh heaven on Tuesday afternoon in their Western State Conference contest with visiting Allan Hancock College. The Owls scored a program record seven goals, in a lopsided 7-1 victory over the Bulldogs.

Citrus got started early when freshman Shisuke Kajiwara drew a penalty in the box 10 minutes into the contest. The Owls called up freshman Grayson Iwasaki to take the kick, and he did not disappoint burying the ball in the lower left hand corner of the goal.

Allan Hancock would answer back with a PK of their own, converting the penalty shot in the 22nd minute. The Owls would take the lead back for themselves late in the half, when Iwasaki connected with freshman Antonio Bernal who went far post on the Bulldogs to put Citrus up 2-1.

In the second half, the Owls came out firing.  Bernal took the ball deep into Bulldog territory and crossed it to Iwasaki who headed it home just two minutes into the half.  Bernal then answered with his second of the game shortly thereafter to make it 4-1 in the 51st minute.

Freshman Takuro Kawashima then got in on the fun, scoring on a free kick from the top of the box to make it 5-1. Iwasaki then notched his third of the day, to make it 6-1 in the 56th minute. The final score would come in the 72nd minute when Kawashima again scored from far out, this time a laser from 40 yards away that put the Owls up 7-1.

With the win, Citrus improves to 4-6 overall and 3-3 in Western State Conference play. The Owls will be on the road later this week when they take on Santa Monica College in Santa Monica. That match is set for a 1:00 PM start.
