Owls Get Tie at Canyons

Santa Clarita, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Soccer team hit the road on Friday afternoon to take on third place College of the Canyons. The Owls came back home with a strong result, tying the Cougars 2-2 on their home turf.

Citrus made the most of their chances on Friday. The Owls were able to fire off just five total shots, compared to 12 for the Cougars. Citrus' second shot of the game came via a free kick from sophomore Takuro Kawashima who buried it in the back of the net to put the Owls up 1-0 in the 22nd minute. 22 minutes later, Citrus took their fourth shot of the half, and again the Owls came up with a goal as sophomore Austin Amato scored his third of the year.

Up two goals to none, Citrus faced an onslaught by College of the Canyons in the second half. The Cougars cut the Owls' lead in half two minutes into the second half. 14 minutes later, Canyons had tied the match up with a score in the 61st minute. All in all, Canyons outshot Citrus 9-1 in the second half.

With the tie, Citrus' record moves to 2-4-3 overall and 1-2-2 in Western State Conference play. The Owls travel again on Tuesday when they head up the coast to take on Santa Barbara City College at 7:30 PM.
