Owls Pour It On Late in Season Opening Win

Pasadena, CA - After giving up a goal and falling behind 1-0 just moments into the second half of their season opening match-up with Cal Tech on Saturday afternoon, the Citrus College Men's Soccer team poured it on. The Owls scored three unanswered strikes in the final 40 minutes to leave with a 3-1 victory.

 After playing to a scoreless tie over the first 45 minutes, the Beavers took a 1-0 lead with a score in the 47th minute. The Owls would nearly answer back immediately getting a goal from freshman Brian Ellis off a pass from sophomore Emilio Del Villar.

The Owls weren't done yet though as freshman Enrique Acosta scored an unassisted goal in the 65th minute to give Citrus a 2-1 lead. Del Villar would chip in again, scoring the Owls' third and final goal, off an assist by freshman Joel Rosales in the 80th minute to give Citrus their final margin of victory.

With the win, Citrus improves to 1-0 on the season. The Owls will have their home opener on Tuesday when they face an always tough Cerritos College squad at 5:00 PM in Citrus College Stadium.
