Owls Fly High In 3-1 Win Over Palomar

What started out early in the match as an aggressive offensive push by the Palomar College Comets, turned into a battle of stamina as the Citrus College Men's Soccer team outlasted the visitors in a feisty 90 minutes of action on Friday. The match had initially been scheduled for 2:00 PM. But the heat index was at dangerous levels and both schools decided to move the match to 7:00, resulting in much lower temperatures on the field. Both teams were forced to deal with the burden of exhaustion from the day's extreme heat, but Citrus seemed to shrug off the fatigue as they handed Palomar it's third straight loss of the season.

Citrus held the upper hand for much of the match as they flexed their lungs to capacity, running Palomar into the ground. Freshman midfielder Patrick Luevano led the Owls with 2 goals, followed by Sophomore forward Joel Rosales who knocked in one of his own. Tempers flared late in the game when both teams displayed signs of frustration, exchanging several hard fouls. But the the Owls used skillfull ball movement and spacing to run the clock down, holding on to their 2 point lead and improving to 1-2 on the year.

The Citrus men will travel to San Diego Mesa on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup.
